On 24 March 2026, Central Authorities of over 90 countries came together for a global online video conference held under the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH), Hague Service Convention (1965), Hague Evidence Convention (1970), and Hague Access to Justice Convention (1980).

The session, hosted and coordinated by Melissa Ford, Secretary the Permanent Bureau, brought together representatives from various jurisdictions for a focused and constructive exchange.

The meeting created space for meaningful and insightful discussions among Central Authorities on applications of these Conventions as implemented in practice, allowing participants to share experiences, address operational challenges and explore ways to strengthen cooperation in cross-border legal processes.

Dr. Krishna Mohan Arya, Additional Legal Adviser, Ministry of Law and Justice, participated actively during discussions, sharing India’s experience and underlining ongoing efforts to further streamline and strengthen mechanisms for international judicial assistance.

“Science must speak the language of the student.”

As reported in The Hindu in School, Prof. Srinivasa V Chakravarthy, from the Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras, highlights how IIT Madras is reimagining science outreach—by meeting students in the language they think and dream in.

Through regional language initiatives in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, the Institute has translated and distributed over 100 popular science titles, including works by Isaac Asimov and biographies of iconic scientists such as Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Srinivasa Ramanujan and Galileo Galilei. The goal? To ensure science is not memorised as formulae, but experienced as curiosity, imagination and possibility.

By bringing accessible science and career guidance directly into classrooms—especially where English is not the primary medium—this initiative is democratising knowledge at scale.

Science does not belong to one language. It belongs to every student.

Dr (Mrs.) Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to Government of India delivered a keynote address at India-UK conference on Green Hydrogen Standards and Safety Protocols, held on 27 February 2026 in New Delhi. She was joined by Mr Abhay Bakre, Mission Director, National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), @mnreindia ; @AnjanKu02751211 , Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board; @alvirihan24 , Director General, @Nise_Gurgaon ; Ms Laura Aylett, First Secretary (Climate and Energy) and Ms Jinoos Shariati, First Secretary (Trade) from @UKinIndia; and @PawanMulukutla , Program Executive Director, @WRIIndia.

Dr. Maini in her keynote address highlighted the ambitious goals of NGHM, the National Hydrogen Safety established in September 2025 and the importance of having interoperable standards enabling safe operations and seamless global hydrogen trade. Regulatory standards and safety protocols are imperative to render deployment of green hydrogen credible, bankable and firmly anchored in credible safety systems. Through the office of the PSA, she pointed towards steps taken to deliberately position safety upstream of deployment.

She remarked on the convergence of India’s scale and the UK’s technical depth that places the two nations in a distinctive position to co-create a globally trusted ecosystem for hydrogen production, storage, transport, and utilisation and the strong collaboration in the form of initiatives strengthened by India–UK Vision 2035 Climate Partnership. She emphasised on practical cooperation that can be pursued by India and the UK along three broad lines: co-development of reference safety frameworks through a joint roadmap; collaboration on shared testbeds, modelling tools, and certification pathways; and strengthening knowledge frameworks and human capital.
