Unlike other apps which rely exclusively on machine translation (with disastrous results), Lektor retains the human element and always gives you accurate translations, plus definitions and additional notes when needed. #translation#learnASecondLanguage#languageLearning
@ld_unblind True. However, life has taught me that you've got to 'like the pain', so to speak. Or else you'll never go as far as you need to accomplish something meaningful.
@Brslv Hi. Iβm a designer turned translator who's building in public a translation-assisted language-learning aid. Think Duolingo Stories, but with authentic content and no interruptions.
After a long hiatus (computer trouble), here's the library view (not responsive yet) and a little video of everything Iβve got so far. #buildInPublic#buildingInPublic
@MusikFreak12 Cheers! Stay tuned! And feedback is always welcome. For now I shall be focusing on translations to Portuguese (my native language), but I also have plans to have some content in English with English definitions (namely poetry with difficult words).
@eramne2 Good stuff! I think I'm already doing that, but probably not enoughβ¦ So I guess you have your html linking to multiple .css and .js files? I read somewhere that doing that with many style sheets may increase loading time π€ Thoughts?
@eramne2 Yes, always good to ask many people. I may have an outlier opinion (though I doubt it π hehe; visual design is not as subjective as people think)
@eramne2 Round corners are good. Still, it feels too clinical and business-like to meβ¦
I wouldn't characterise your colour palette as warm, but as 'solarised cold' (dark blue and blueish green are cold colours). Here's an example from Dribble with green and blue that feels warmer.
@eramne2 It looks good, but I'm not getting a 'playful' vibe, I've got to admit. π¬ (And is playful the right vibe for your app? Just playing devil's advocate) I suggest you create a mood board first to capture the feel you're picturing in your head. Here's the one I created for me:
@eramne2 @jessievbreugel Thanks!! Yeah, this is for at least lower intermediate users. Hopefully one day I'll have Duolingo-style lessons with real sentences from books, podcasts and videos to help beginners get started (and also content beyond the public domain).
