This opens up a nasty can of worms when it comes to
- origin mapping and country of origin logic
- extra virgin certification
- price of the goods when its mass blended (your customs broker is doing a valuation of a mass blended product €3/litre wholesale, but WHAT is that product precisely? It’s the same as a single estate?)
- you think anyone selling at scale is doing batch 3rd party testing? You’re sadly mistaken. You don’t know what you’re consuming, I hate to break it to you.

Can someone explain to me how FSMA 204 works for mass market olive oils? Am I interpreting this poorly or not?

Here are three examples I’m thinking of

- either 1000 farms in Morocco, which imported from Turkey
- 1000 farmers in the Peloponnese or 3000 farmers in Southern Spain
- 1000 farms in Italy + bought from Turkish producers and blend then sent to Morocco for final bottling (see their tariff exemption for EVOO)
- and then Greek olive oil from Sparta> import into Australia and then finally send to Northern California for final blend

Can someone actually explain to me how I find the 1 farmer that decided to use a carcinogenic pesticide in one of these parts in the supply chain?

You’re going to say doesn’t matter diluted, low risk, but what does the word Traceability Mean to you then? Traceability means I want to know the farmers, but maybe it means other things to other people.

If we want to become a supplier of the municipal grocery stores, is the municipality going to cover the dynamic tariffs that change every so often.

Or is the stores not interested in imported products.

They said highly quality so we’re assuming this means imported from a single grove. Not mass market. Mass market naturally is not high quality because you cannot understand where the product came from. It’s essentially not traceability when it comes from 1000 groves, as per their literal business model that the tax authorities, CBP, FDA are all aware of.

When you do biz in other countries…From a packaging and sourcing and manufacturing perspective, the US is a warehouse.

The knowledge and everything is not located in the US. Your non-bilingual-non-dual citizen employees are going to be at massive risk in the future as they already are.

Idk who needs to hear this, definitely not anyone following this account, but if you’re eating food that is not differentiated and decentralized from the food industry (aka a food company that doesn’t work with large distributors) it’s likely you’re eating the same food basically at the restaurant and grocery and bakery that you go to.

Centralization as in look at what the food industry just revealed to consumers about how monopolized the lettuce supply is.

If you’re buying from big brands and PL you’re just buying the same thing at different prices. Subsidized and masked as a free market.
