If you haven’t seen the Harrison Butker graduation speech, please go watch it.
Here’s a quote:
“For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment.
You should be proud of all that you have achieved to this point in your young lives.
I want to speak directly to you briefly, because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you.
How many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage, and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world,
but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.
I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”
👀
This is the programming of so many people.
People believe women are here to support men. That our job is to create babies, not companies and jobs.
Not be equals.
I love being a partner.
I love being a mom.
But I also love my career and the fulfillment I get from my work.
If you’ve ever wondered what the patriarchy is, it’s this. This programming and thinking.
It causes subconscious hate and disgust for women who don’t follow these societal rules and expectations of what a woman “should” do and be.
I’m sorry to every graduate who had to sit there and listen to that.
Go on to change the world - however you choose.
@neonatalPT You can always return and those babies will always welcome you with open arms. The balance of self, family, career…the scales will tip many times
I feel like I’ve asked the same question over and over the last two Octobers: what allows the Astros to keep doing this despite so much turnover?
Between swigs of red wine, Justin Verlander gave me maybe the best answer yet - https://t.co/0XziGS9DgG
I can’t believe the discussion is still needed in 2023 but yes, if you cut ✂️ someone’s hamstring you send them to PT. Why on earth, what’s the reason that you’d ever cut through someone’s abdomen and not do the same?
What’s the hold up ?
If you’re having pain when getting in & out of bed after abdominal or pelvic surgery, request a physical therapist while you’re in the hospital
You may be denied 4 times🙋🏾♀️
Be persistent with the same request💪🏾
Getting in & out of bed after surgery is often harder than walking
@RebecaSegraves@Jerry_DurhamPT Thank you for this! I’m a NICU PT, they occasionally consult us for moms postpartum but not always. It’s definitely a missed population and I’d love to learn how to serve them better
