It is clinically proven that social media is impacting our brains, and not in a positive manner. Adults barely understand the dopamine response our brains have, so we must learn as much as we can & have those sometimes difficult conversations with the young people we care about.
"It’s critical we talk with our young people about the many facets of social media use, even if those conversations are at times uncomfortable."

It's my last weekend before starting my new gig @CCSDK12 on Monday. I'm excited to serve the students, staff, and community as their Partner, Library Services. Every single student deserves outstanding library programs and all of the amazing resources they have to offer.
I wrote a book for teachers.
It’s about joy, justice, and humanity.
It publishes so very soon.
It will help encourage and equip teachers.
Thanks in advance for your support 🖤

Spent 2 days unloading into the apartment & a storage unit. Now flying back to Houston to pick up the dog and my truck, then make the drive to Denver AGAIN. Oh, I'll hug the wife & daughter too while I'm there 😜😜😜
It's time to begin the moving process. I cleared out our storage unit this morning and loaded everything into the garage. I have sweat through 2 sets of clothes, but it is done. Movers will be here to tomorrow to load the truck, then I'll be otw to Denver!

@abmack33 Our entire profession is in debt to you for your choices! I am in awe of people who choose the more difficult path, especially when there are real consequences for doing the right thing in the face of what appears to be very steep odds.
I've been thing about the phrase "At what cost?" quite a bit lately. What are the tradeoffs we must make when we try something new, hold onto something old, sacrifice our principles, speak up, stay silent, pick a side, claim neutrality, move on, stay, focus, or take a wider view?
Public education is how we build a better Kentucky, but we can't get there if our school funding is given to private corporations. Public dollars are for public schools. Period.
95% of Benbrook students live in or near poverty, & 68% speak another language at home. Improving their literacy skills helps them succeed. Thank you, Librarian Tonya Sapp, for encouraging your students to read, & thank you, donors, for enabling us to donate books. @TeamHISD
Children who have access to books that teach about body autonomy, the right to say no, and how to report when people in power are acting inappropriately are less likely to fall victim to people like this.
The very books that people like this are trying to remove from libraries.
