Design thinking has been all the rage since the USG heard that innovation was a thing.
People forget, in the jargon, that the very definition of design includes *intention*.
Creating that takes hard, hard work and deep, deep thinking. It’s not all post-its and whiteboards.
Companies that are great at innovation make it easy to START projects, but are also world class at KILLING/RETIRING projects that don’t produce first evidence from testing quickly.
Typically a “KILL/RETIREMENT RATE” of 50% - 75% is not unusual!

To optimize the search and testing phases of innovation, you need to measure:
🚦 Desirability: Do customers want it?
🚧 Feasibility: Can we build it?
💸 Viability: Does it make financial sense?
+
⏳Adaptability: How does it fit into your current model?

Good leaders shape how their people see the world rather than just what they do. Great leaders learn to see the world as their people see it and thus find the real potential.
The right organizational structure for innovation can lead to sustainable growth. While at the same time the wrong structure can transform innovation in a money pit activity. Here are the 3 main type of structures for #innovation:
