Fun fact: In high school I worked at an electronics store called Circuit City, and there I learned that about 50% of theft at such retailers is from employees.
There are many reasons these stores are struggling to compete, but this is one of them. If an Amazon employee steals something in the warehouse there are probably 6 robots that track him down and tear out their spine Mortal Kombat style.

The flip side of this of course is that we're now entrusting our biometric data to a handful of centralized companies. Sigh.
