Today officially marks 2 years since Hurricane Helene hit us in Western North Carolina.

I wasn't a political person before Hurricane Helene, I was barely on X at all.

But what I saw during the months after Hurricane Helene, literally changed my entire life so dramatically, it's impossible for me to ever go back.

I watched as promises were made, but weren't kept.

I watched as the media ignored us, even though we were screaming for help.

I watched neighbors living out of tents for months.

I helped deliver RVs to families with small kids living out of sheds in their backyard in 21 degree weather.

I heard horror story after horror story of people abandoned by a government they trusted to help them.

I got calls from frantic families being kicked out of hotels by FEMA into the cold.

I had to tell my kids, "I'm sorry, but I don't know when things are going to look normal again..."

I heard from so many people, "I think they forgot about us..."

That's why I dedicated so much of my life here on X to getting the word out, sharing the stories of hurt, of hope, love, and of tragedy.

In the end, we all just become the stories other people know us by, and the only thing I knew for certain, was that as long as I had had a voice...

I was going to make sure OUR STORY in Western North Carolina didn't die.

So thank you to everyone who cared enough to share the stories for MONTHS.

You never gave up on us, and it means the world to everyone here.

In Wilmington, my family land was overrun by homeless meth addicts. It cost my mama and her siblings THOUSANDS of dollars to remove them through the courts and clean up the property.

This is a growing problem across North Carolina, yet you vetoed a bill meant to address the issue?

I’m curious; do you do anything that benefits the good, hardworking people of this state? Or are you trying your best to make our lives harder? 🤔
