The communication of climate change has totally failed. Just talking to my friend for whom the penny has only just dropped this evening and is now panicking, understandably. It’s all focused on degrees of warming which means literally nothing to 99% of the public. It needs to be laid out what that actually means, and not just heat waves or more rain, which also doesn’t sound impactful. The war, global financial collapse, disease, hyper violence and mass death needs laying out explicitly. This constant emphasis on not overwhelming or frightening people has been one of the biggest mistakes in human history. Why would you leave a burning house if someone just gently told you it might be nicer outside? What you do is SCREAM FIRE at the top of your lungs and drag them out if needs be.
