@cowboy_postbop They Live is known for that badass dystopian “OBEY” scene, but the rest of the movie is nothing like that, just cheesy B-movie action and dialogue a middle schooler could’ve written
I think about the Cheers guy now and then. Who is he? Why so smug? What was his life like? I know he could have never imagined his mug would eventually be seen by millions repeatedly on a contraption that beamed images and sounds through the air into people’s homes.
the oscars is incredible. 3 hours of supposedly the most talented, charismatic people on earth completely ignore timing, miss cues, be unfunny, and generally struggle to remember to act like a human being. you can see them being like "wtf do i do with my hands"

If you're wondering who's leading the Olympic medal tallies, you can look at the official table https://t.co/dh4FPojqHV and wrongly conclude that China, with 12 fewer medals than the US, is leading the pack.
Or you can look at my own exclusive Adjusted Medal Standings™, and get the real picture. These are adjusted in two ways: 1) Instead of just counting medals, I assign 3 points for each gold, 2 for each silver, and 1 for each bronze. 2) I divide each country's point total by its GDP. Why GDP? Because it combines two variables that are known to be closely correlated with Olympic performance: population and income (GDP per capita).
So, measured by total points per trillion dollars GDP, we can clearly see that Georgia is the current medal leader (among countries with at least 3 medals) , followed by New Zealand, Croatia, Australia and Hungary. China is in 29th place.
