@paulg That makes a lot of sense.
It’s like The Innovator’s Dilemma
Yahoo! vs. Google
Blockbuster vs. Netflix
I look forward to seeing these new upstarts.
Love this. AI agents navigating your site is the next frontier, and SEO + GEO is wildly underrated by founders. Done right it quietly becomes your best lead-gen channel.
I run this free skill on all my landing pages and it’s great: https://t.co/LNeEjjVRqt
(no affiliation, I just genuinely like it)
Here's how you pages should look like.
Google Robots like that because it means you page have a great User Experience.
This, among lots of other things, makes your page be shown on first results when someone searches for what you sell.
Please, I urge you, be found if you have a great product. Focus on SEO/GEO
Even thought it was not a startup, we did it on our first company. My partner was struggling to find programming content in Portuguese on YouTube, so she ended up building a +200k channel and a great community around her.
She was always the early adopter of every content she made.
(Yes, YouTube full time can be a company)
A lot of people have been asking me how I marketed my peptide tracking app Pep AI to make over $125,000 in revenue in 80 days. Here's what I did.
- Influencer marketing: signed over 100 content creators in my app's niche. They all post once or twice a week about the app on TikTok and Instagram. We pay them based on engagement. So if they average 1k-2k views per video we give them around $100 for 8 posts.
- Affiliate deals: Content creators make 15% of subscription sales under there personal code. This way they care and put more effort into the posts. On top of that they'll post more than we asked them too because they want to make more money. We still get 85% so it works out pretty well.
- Meta ads and TikTok spark ads: We run meta ads on the best performing videos from our creators. For TikTok spark ads we get the code from the creators and run ads on there posts that performed well.
- Another tip is YOU have to spend money to make money. Don't be afraid to pay people at the beginning and try different marketing channels. Find out which ones work and go all in. You don't need to be profitable right away.
- Outreach: You need to be sending over 100 messages a day to content creators. We hired people to do this for us. Our team sends out over 1,000 messages to content creators every single week. You need an army of content creators.
- Free channels: Take advantage of free channels like reddit. Find groups similar to your niche and post in there. You can't promote or it's considered spam and they'll take it down. However, if you post it like this it'll work: "I have been taking a GLP for 2 months now and I have been looking for an app that can track it. Thinking about making one, would anyone be interested in this? If yes what would you all like to see on the app?" Then respond to comments with the app name saying you found one. You'll also get good feedback for your app from this.
- Lastly: Build in public. Post about your startup journey on all platforms: X, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit. You'll get great feedback and people will download your app to see what you've built.
I hope this all helps! This is what has worked for me and I truly believe it translates over to any app. If you have any questions feel free to comment, message me, or book a call from the link in my bio. Also feel free to download my app and see what it looks like from this link: https://t.co/8wnc8rHsPL
@mcelia@elonmusk just curious, what did you use to eval? or is it a feeling of out performing?
I am really tempted to try it, but my Claude setup is working so great...
PLEASE BE FOUND!!!
If you have a good product or service, you deserve to be found. Really. There is so much crap out there that gets sold while you're there with a great product and a total of 0 users. Hustling to get a $100 MRR while others make millions doing some bullshit.
It sucks. I know.
Imagine how many people could be benefiting from what you have.
Imagine how many people could have their lives improved somehow just because of what you're building.
So here's what I ask of you:
DON'T STOP TRYING.
DON'T STOP BUILDING.
START SELLING MORE.
"but I hate it when sellers approach me", you might say.
Do it differently, then. Don't do the old boring playbook we are all tired of. But also don't forget those sellers mastered some parts of how our mind works, and that is something that doesn't change that easily. Just be aware that, after all, no matter how complex it is, our brain is still a system, so some words trigger some part of the brain, that's biology, and that will keep happening whether you like it or not.
Use the psychology, ditch the script.
So please, I urge you, be found.
May 19th and I just applied some big SEO changes on our website using the same techniques we use for our clients.
Let's see where it takes us in a month.
We're already pretty well classified (avg. position=5) but we can still be the answer to many more different searches. This may lower our avg position but will still get us more clicks.
founders don’t take SEO/GEO seriously.
this is one of those Low Effort and High Value things everyone should do to their applications.
of course, you can (and should) spend time learning and perfecting your SEO.
BUT
if you only take 2-4 hours off your day just once and implement a few relevant stuff like a blog, some free tools and some pSEO pages this can LITERALLY take you from nothing to starting have organic traffic on your website (which you should be able to convert in sales).
so my advice is:
1) install a GEO skill like https://t.co/DuKwth8yKW on Claude Code
2) think on a real pain you can easily solve with a free tool
3) run /geo with a prompt explaining your free tool on Opus 4.7 with /effort set to high
4) enjoy your traffic going up 😊
