Capitalism, colonialism, modernity, slavery, and growth-driven economies continue to destroy biodiversity, the first underlying cause being domination of and disconnection from nature and people. Now we must anticipate 2-3°C by the 2030s/40s. With growth it's likely inevitable.
The world does not need an artificial intelligence that diminishes humanity; rather, it needs human intelligence enlightened by wisdom, political authority guided by conscience and technological innovation directed by charity. Anger may seem to be a source of energy, but it’s blind. It causes us to lose our restraint. It may stir courage, but again it’s blind courage. Another look at the internal structure of the open-source smartwatch. In the slideshow the design looks deceptively simple considering the number of components in the watch 😅
I cannot over-emphasize how much you are seeing a distorted version of reality in which the world is ruled by incompetence and evil if you see everything through the lens of Elon tweets rather than actually engaging with your community.
Meta might be caving in to political pressure but there's still Bluesky and Mastodon, both which are doing okay, and have nice people. Ultimately the best social network is a list of friends to catch up with now and then.
