A fourth GP just joined HF0.
He’s never been out to SF in person.
In fact, he’s never been a GP anywhere.
Come to think of it, I don’t know anyone who’s actually met him in person.
He kind of just appeared online about a year ago...(1/8)

1. Biggest Advice to new VCs
Meet with every single company in the first year. Have no standards.
Build a benchmark for what great founders look like.
It takes 500 pitch meetings before you know what you're doing.
When I started angel investing, I had no idea how to break into VC. When I became a VC, I was determined to change that.
Today, I’m excited to officially welcome our new cohort of @HustleFundVC Venture Fellows from our Angel Squad community to learn through doing, research, and working with the best practitioners.
Our Fellows bring incredible expertise and points of view across:
🤖 AI/ML
🌱climate tech
💸 fintech
👩🏽⚕️women’s health
🧠 and more as founders, operators, and investors
VC is an apprenticeship business. 👼🏽 investing, reviewing the inbound pipeline and joining calls with Elizabeth Yin is how I broke into VC.
In just the first few weeks, Fellows have:
💼 reviewed >200 companies
👋 joined & debriefed >30 intro calls with founders and our investment team
🛠️ participated in 2 workshops
🚀 seen 1 company move from warm intro to closed won
And now, we’re excited to introduce them to you for the first time.
Venture Fellows go beyond shadowing – they lead calls, participate in diligence, and do follow-ups with founders. I’ve learned so much from the questions they’ve asked and the constructive feedback they’ve provided to founders based on their own hard-won expertise.
Our 1st cohort of Fellows is now taking it a step further developing theses across things like fintech, climate tech, and legal tech, and our goal is to help them take their venture careers to the next level.
Special shoutout to Leon Jon, an Angel Squad member, CVC investor, and NYU Stern student who is joining us to lead the way as an MBA Associate.

I can’t believe it’s been 2.5 years since we started Angel Squad.
Thank you, TechCrunch, for helping us highlight our amazing community.
From the very beginning, Hustle Fund and I wanted to make angel investing more accessible.

Is there a summarization service for YouTube links and/or podcast links? What I want is to submit a URL, and then get LLM summarization in bullet points of specific stories or segments with timestamps.
Nice to have: click-to-expand headings.
Willing to pay per link!

Venture Capital ‘Backable’? 💡
I’ve reviewed over 3000 African startup pitch decks in the last 4 years. The most important question I ask myself each time is.. ⬇
‘Is this startup VC ‘backable’?’ A thread 🧵
Why now? This is the one question you must answer if you start a startup or are thinking of joining a startup.
What are good answers to this? Technology, behavior change, and regulation. There are many answers, but those are the top 3 most common.
