On February 16, 2023, in battle near Svatove in eastern Ukraine, Frenchman Andréas Gallozzi was killed.
His mother, Edith, will be on the Maidan in Kyiv today, while at the same time Rémi Fritsch and others will gather at the cemetery in France where Andréas rests, to honor the memory of the Hero.
Andréas Gallozzi was 22 years old, from the Yonne department in the Burgundy region. He had always wanted to be a soldier and joined the 17th Engineer Parachute Regiment in September 2020.
Andréas left France to defend Democracy, Ukraine, Ukrainians, and Europe. During his training in the International Legion, where he received the nickname “Frenchie,” many noted that he was determined and carried out his duty with dedication.
In phone conversations with his mother Edith, he would repeat: “Mom, I’m fine where I am now; I know why I came; I understand what I’m getting into.” Once, from the front line, he told her: “Mom, this is 14–18 (the years of World War I) in the 21st century.”
His great-uncle, whose story Andréas knew well, fell in a trench in 1918, and his last words were: “Everything is fine.”
Among Andréas’s personal belongings returned by his comrades from the International Legion, his mother found a note instructing the family where to find his final words on his phone.
In a note titled “already too late,” he wrote:
“War is a curse of humanity, because war never dies. There will always be just causes worth fighting for and, if necessary, dying for — fighting against madmen who want to destroy everything around them for the sake of their own ego… nothing but trivialities.”
Then he wrote what he called his “Last words.”
Stating that the following text was inspired by letters from French soldiers of the First World War, Andréas voluntarily chose a passage that may have touched him most deeply and adapted it, adding his own words.
Last words:
“My dearest Mom, beloved family, my faithful friends. For me, the war is over, and I regret nothing. I have seen enough heroism and horror.
I pray that your fate will be more merciful. Our life is short. I thank Heaven for all the joys, all the happiness, and the trials that destiny prepared for me.
My life was wonderful and almost complete.
These few phrases will be my last. I have spent my final hours looking through all the photos with you — my precious memories.
Only a miracle could save me. I knew this mission could be too dangerous, but I am a stubborn man; I did not want to leave my friends to go alone into the center of this hell.
War drives people mad. I fulfilled my duty, upheld the honor of France, Ukraine, and Europe. I feel no remorse about going to Ukraine; I found the meaning of my life and my convictions. The only thing I regret, perhaps, is that I did not have time to love someone with all my heart.
I hope you will find the strength to forgive me, and that God might reunite us in heaven or elsewhere, after separating us on this earth.
Never forget the soldiers who died for a just cause.
I will never forget you. I love you.”
These last words were written on February 1, 2023. Andréas was killed in battle on February 16, 2023.
In the arms of a Japanese comrade, Andréas spoke his final words: “Everything is fine.”

🚨 Le Sénat vient de durcir la loi anti squat : un individu qui occupe illégalement un logement pourra être expulsé sous 72 heures et non plus après 6 mois ou plus.

Jusqu’ici, une personne devait à la fois s’introduire et rester illégalement dans un logement pour être qualifiée de squatteur, ce qui excluait notamment les "squatteurs Airbnb" et obligeait les propriétaires à attendre parfois plus de six mois.

@SandyofCthulhu We beat prussia 3 time austria 5 time england 6 time and russia 4 time. We invade prussia in 1807 and they stay calm until 1814 same for other germanic nation and italian one, belgium and netherland but can't invade england and russia for geographique reason .

Sa fille de sept ans, Lily-Rose, avait été admise d’urgence à l’hôpital Great Ormond Street avec une grave infection à E. coli. Ses reins étaient en train de lâcher. Aucun scénario ne l’avait préparé à cela.

Il quitta le plateau aussitôt.

Pendant trois semaines, il vécut à l’intérieur de cet hôpital—sans tapis rouges, sans projecteurs, sans personnages dans lesquels se glisser. Juste un père assis à côté d’un enfant fragile, écoutant les machines faire le travail que son petit corps ne pouvait plus accomplir. Les neuf premiers jours furent les pires. Le temps perdit toute forme. La vie se réduisit au bip des moniteurs et au bruit feutré de pas dans le couloir.

En septembre 2024, il arpenta les couloirs de l’hôpital universitaire de Donostia, en Espagne, en tenue complète de Sparrow. Pas de première, pas de publicité. Juste un homme avec un costume dans sa valise au cas où quelque part, un enfant aurait besoin d’un moment de lumière.

Quand on lui demanda pourquoi ces visites comptaient tant, il répondit avec la sincérité tranquille de quelqu’un qui a vécu des deux côtés de la porte d’un hôpital :

Il avait été ce parent qui ne savait pas si son enfant survivrait.
Il avait porté ce poids de peur.

S’il pouvait leur offrir un moment de répit, même bref, cela suffisait.

Depuis, chaque année, il entre dans d’autres chambres pour offrir aux familles ce dont il avait autrefois désespérément besoin : un peu d’espoir, un peu de lumière, quelques minutes où la peur relâche enfin son étreinte. »
