According to the official Episode 5 commentary, the books kept on the chest in her apartment cover subjects such as psychology and genetics.

The production notes even specify that Rei reads them intently, with tags marking pages throughout the books.

It’s a tiny piece of characterization that’s barely communicated directly in the series.

So an open matte 35mm print of "The Simpsons Family Therapy" skit has been uploaded to YT.

Not only is it nice to see a Tracey Ullman-era skit in HD, it's also cool to see the cel edges, the margin notes, and the paint cutoffs that were cropped out on the videotape masters.
