The average parents spends about 37 mins of intentional time with their kids each day
But spends an average of 6.5hrs a day on a screen
This sends a message to kids that screens are more important than they are
And no kid should feel this way
Parents, dont let screens distract you from whats really important
Kids deserve our best
"The biggest obstacle to learning a language is already knowing one" - random comment on a YouTube video. Is it accurate? Yes and no. It explains why children pick up languages so quickly. But as an adult, the more language knowledge you have the more you can leverage it.
Learning a language with your kids? You're in good company! Prince William and Princess Kate are learning Welsh alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis ❤️https://t.co/i5heO0c5Mn
@readtoyourkid Unpopular opinion: guessing context is an important language skill - especially if one is to pursue languages beyond English. Children also need to learn how to read. Both can be true.
@edfreeuk Parenting advice aside, I find it interesting that she acknowledges that teachers in the school setting do not have the time or bandwidth to actually teach children. This is important given what is going on in the UK regarding elective home education.

@conortrains To begin with, I would recommend:
Learn Mandarin Chinese with Paul Noble for Beginners – Complete Course: Mandarin Chinese Made Easy with Your Personal Language Coach
You can find it on Audible ✨️
@conortrains In that case, starting with an audio-only program might be the way to go. Then, if you want to do writing, you could do a radicals first approach later. I am doing something similar at the moment.
@Dirtdragonmom I am all for intuitive parenting. That being said, I do think maybe a short checklist for parents who are not sure if their child is ready to read or not would be helpful.
If your kids grew up to be just like you, would you be ok with that?
Every parent should ask themselves this question,
Because kids learn from observation & imitation.
This means kids are always watching you & copying what they see
So if you want your kids to be healthy, happy & just a good person
You need to show them how to be healthy, happy and a good person
