A free press is the lifeblood of democracy. Now more than ever, it is critical that reporters & photographers can safely document protests without fear of harm or targeting.
They are essential — and they must be able to do their jobs. We all depend on them.
Horrifying. You start with the tiny possibility that two officers may be walking over to deescalate the abusive one.
Instead, they join in beating a man trying to get out of traffic.
This isn’t a problem of bad apples or incidents. This is an institutional and systemic crisis.
If your bitch ass president would get off his ass and command positive change, this could / would be dead in no time. It’s because white america does not want to bend/ change which is why this shit still happening. So ... direct your frustration to ya boi. Complain to him!
If one more of my colegues comments about how sad it is that they had to empty & close their store, imma scream. Karen go home and chill. Ur being paid. Corporations have insurance, they’ll be fine. It’s mom & pop and the fight against discrimination that u should be sad about.
Change must come and it starts with standardizing police misconduct policies across America.
We need:
-Independent police misconduct investigations
-One universal definition of excessive force
-Publicly available disciplinary records of officers who are accused of misconduct
@NYCMayor Wow you really said that?! They could have reversed. Exited abandon the vehicle. - most jobs tell you not to fight a situation like that, just let it happen. Soo... im lost. They fucked up and should be held accountable!
George Floyd’s murder is not only an outrage. It is the latest manifestation of a system that callously devalues the lives of Black people. Our struggle is and always has been about justice—not justice on paper, but real justice in the real lives of real people.
NYPD officers just drove an SUV into a crowd of human beings. They could‘ve killed them, &we don’t know how many they injured.
NO ONE gets to slam an SUV through a crowd of human beings.
@NYCMayor these officers need to be brought to justice, not dismissed w/“internal reviews.”
