Because especially for enterprises Windows is built for software development in ways where Linux historically falls short. Sorry to break it to you, but Linux will continue to be a niche OS for the foreseeable future.
"Clearing cache fixes it."
This solves like 40% of all tech problems in the world.
But if the cache was supposed to make things faster, why does removing it fix things?
What was in there that was wrong? And if bad data can get into the cache, why do we trust caches at all?
I like Dave a lot (I subscribe to his YouTube channel). However, this is a fool's errand, given the resources we have now, at a fraction of the price.
I'm not arguing for inefficiency (I'm a software dev myself), but come on, Dave, it's a different world.
A former Microsoft engineer has created a new text editor called TinyRetroPad, only 2.5KB in size
Dave Plummer, who created Windows Task Manager during his time at Microsoft, said Notepad was originally designed as a basic text editor, while WordPad handled more advanced formatting.
He believes Notepad has become too complicated over the years with features like AI writing tools.
TinyRetroPad is written in x86 assembly and based on Matt Power’s Tiny Editor (DTE). Despite its tiny size, it can open and save text files, change fonts, and print documents using Windows’ built-in features.
“No bloat. No telemetry. No nonsense. Just pure old school Windows done right.”
There definitely is a strong positive correlation with mental illness.
But we must not ignore the larger underlying spiritual issue - rebellion against the Creator who made us male and female, and makes no mistakes.
With all due respect, this is delusional... We've heard these hopeful claims from Linus advocates for years. Linux is not growing, and it has its own sets of problems and bugs.
If you think Windows is a pain as a consumer, try working with it as a computer maker…
We’re very happy to see Linux (and BSD) adoption continue to grow as a % of new users picking up Framework Laptops and Desktops, even as our sales volume continues to increase.
Apples and oranges: environment, hardware, software, horsepower.
This man is an engineer and into system design fundamentals? He would do well to go back to school.
Google finds any webpage on the entire internet in 0.3 seconds.
But Windows search can't find a file on your own laptop in under 10.
How is searching the entire internet faster than searching one hard drive?
@WretchedNetwork Yes, but brother, selfishness goes both ways, does it not? Servant leadership has more facets than what the husband is to do.
Biblical balance would dictate mentioning that the wife must also willingly serve her husband and submit to his authority.
Complementarianism is responsibility without authority.
Biblical Patriarchy is responsibility with authority.
One works, but the other does not.
One is biblical, but the other is not.
Choose wisely.
I get weary of those who think Reformed and Calvinist believers don't believe in missions. It's a fundamental misunderstanding of the doctrine of predestination and how the Lord has designed it to work - through the faithful witness of His people!
“The Lord established David as king over Israel, and his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel.” 1 Chronicles 14:2
If the Lord elevates a man, it is for the sake of his people.
“I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.” Colossians 1:29
How do you appropriate this toil-empowering presence?
You ask for it. You trust in it. And you act with it.
It is wonderfully shocking that the last verse of the longest celebration of God’s word (Psalm 119) would plead for rescue from straying from the very word he loves.
“I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant,
for I do not forget your commandments.” Psalm 119:176
This is the story of the whole Old Testament. “God, come seek us. Save us. We are so helpless to save ourselves. We need a Savior.”
