We are over halfway through #BlackHistoryMonthUK meaning it’s a good chance to pause and reflect on what has been everyone’s favourite celebration, event, initiative or story to result from this month?
.@leveluplinkup is a space for Black gamers to decompress, relax and network while making a more diverse video games industry in the UK

My talented friend over @flyfangirlclub is running a raffle to raise money for @FORWARDUK, an organisation dedicated to ending violence against Black women & girls across the globe. Up for grabs are her incredible cakes that taste as good as they look!

Below is a list of unambiguously black organisations that black women may find welcoming within the realm of nerddom:
@leveluplinkup - workshops delivered by @moods_jpg on how to get into the gaming industry
Fly Fangirl Club is one of the first inclusive, inherently feminist nerd community in the UK. I started it because I did not feel safe in the spaces that supposedly welcomed nerds like me and to show the world that nerdiness is nuanced!
I'm very reluctant to respond to this call as my level of faith in EGX/Gamer Network is very low, partly through having never had a response to contact about my own games, but more importantly due to an indefensibly all-white writing staff at @eurogamer, @rockpapershot etc.
We spoke to @MCV_DEVELOP on:
✊🏿Racism in the games industry & the need to believe Black people
✊🏾How it's prevalent & exclusionary at all levels from defining what a 'good developer' is to treatment in workplaces
✊🏽Ways companies must be proactive & make changes starting now
We appreciate orgs like @ChucklefishLTD who not only recognise the racism and societal inequality Black people face, but also commit their own resources to fighting this issue. We urge all current and future Black game devs to get involved with this great offer
The wonderful @moods_jpg created @leveluplinkup, working to create spaces for Black gamers in the UK where they can network and relax. Plus, she's an excellent host and interviewer, working with @BAFTAGames and @McLarenShadow, which you can see right here! https://t.co/02R0lVj6x8
There are a hell of a lot of people in games doing brilliant work raising up Black voices and making this a better place, including but not limited to
@pocinplay@leveluplinkup@GDoCExpo
