FF7 Revelation Director Hamaguchi says in a new interview with The Gamer that FF7AC is part of the OG FF7’s canon rather than the Remake Series canon. His exact quote is:

“It’s more accurate to consider Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children to be a part of the original FF7’s canon rather than the remake series’ canon.

This is because the Remake series has not yet been completed, and since we have not revealed how it will conclude at this stage, we don’t believe it’d be appropriate to share whether it’s canon or not.”

He also goes on to say that in Revelation, “there may be even more elements derived from spin-off works that were not depicted in Rebirth.” 👀
