@TheAtlantic I think this was intended for the Economy section? Posted in the Planet section, doesn't even mention that increase in prices and reduced consumption of plastic is a good thing for the planet. cc @Gardiner_Beth
@NYCSanitation A for effort. But wow, that's a lost of plastic mixed in with the compost (I recognize that one of the bags is a compostable bag, but the pags at the 12s mark and most at the 15s mark are plastic)
@zeddotdev 1. Live editable preview like Obsidian.
2. A rendered git diff (as in a green and red style git diff, but where the diffed markdown is rendered as rich text). That way I can see changes to Claude plans based on my feedback.
@sfmountainbiker@lukeisandberg@mattyp On my road bike, respecting the Idaho stop rules, I regularly halve Google maps' times. Even excluding parking, I would happily race somewhere that's not the top of a hill. Asking bikes to respect rules designed for cars that can easily kill those around them is unreasonable.
@Citymapper is it true you're sharing our location with third parties? Can premium accounts be opted out of this? I've revoked location permissions for now.
@stanansems still loving Statshunters! On Firefox I'm seeing the squares/routes/activities layer get duplicated and move indepdentantly of the map. Not seeing this in Safari.
@bscholl For those of you wondering about fuel consumption, by their own account they expect it to consume 2-3x the equivalent subsonic flights.
Flying is _already_ the most damaging thing an individual can do for the planet๐คฆโโ๏ธ
@asmtasha@streetsforall@CityofSanDiego@EncinitasGov Just moved back to CA and was sad to see that the bicycle safety stop still isn't law. What happened? Will it be included in another bill this year? ๐ค
It's buggy as hell, I'm shocked by how much time is spent in the terminal for trivial things (normies will use this?), and Ubuntu's sandboxing means things that should be simple, like getting Firefox 1Password extension talking to the 1Password app are overly complex.
Seeing a lot of hype around this being the year of Linux on the desktop. As someone who's used OSX/MacOS for 20+ years and switched to Ubuntu to keep my personal computer alive a little longer, I have to say that I can't wait to buy a new Mac and be back on MacOS
@CTowersCBS Also, loud mopeds are everywhere here but not in the US. Basing most of this on my experience living in San Francisco, which is much quieter than NY, for example.
@CTowersCBS Where in Paris? Parts of Paris have small single lane roads with low traffic, and there I agree. Also, sirens are much quieter in Europe in general than in the US. But many parts of Paris are still very car-heavy and Parisians have a deep fondness for laying on their horns.
