My colleagues and I use the term 'spicy' when referring to something undesirable or unusual. I learnt from students today that 'spicy' means something else for them, something closer to dirty, in a sexy way!? @becauselangpod perhaps something to revisit for words of the week?
All the best book recommendations come from podcasts. This time around it's a book I can share with my kids! Thanks for a great episode @VocalFriesPod speaking with @FelicityMeakins and Briony Barr
So pumped to read this one

First PhD milestone done and dusted. Was it great? Nope. But it's done. Little by little I'll work my way through this metaphoric marathon
I came away with some food for thought and encouragement from my supervisors, peers and colleagues

I was catching up on some reading last night and came across an interesting construction in two articles. "As regards [NP]" appearing at the start of a sentence. While not what I would use, it's comprehensible and obviously in the current use of the authors
@BelindaTeaches I'll tell you why people use this grammatical form and it's function, but face to face. There simply aren't enough characters in a tweet!
Visited uni and spoke with my supervisor about feeling disconnected from the academy. Being part time and largely off campus is hard. Listening to @phdpendingpod helps building that sense of community, knowing that I'm not alone!
