When your entire body of ‘scholarship’ can be boiled down to “white people bad” / “therefore, assist non-white people immediately” you can dismiss any notion that it was scholarship in the first place.

A lot of academia in Arday’s, and related fields, is merely openly non-white racial-interest literature – wreathed in academic language.

The Arday case is not revealing on the matter of whether or not this man was a scholar conducting meaningful work - it is clear to any observer he was not. Rather, it is revealing that @Cambridge_Uni was willing to pretend he was for highly racialised, of-the-moment, political purposes. That moment has passed.

Excellent that @nathancofnas has demonstrated the bravery to point this out, and it is now being covered by the Times & Telegraph. Flaying the respectability off Oxford and Cambridge has been a concerted project over the passing decade. Wearing the skinsuit of those venerable institutions, as a fraud, has been the purpose of appointments like this. Arday, and his appointment as a professor, is just one symptom of that broader trend. It will take a great deal more work before appointments at both can be regarded as a reputable again.

This is an outright lie. Arday has never been investigated, let alone "cleared...of any wrongdoing." You can see the plagiarism with your own eyes. Cambridge administrators stated in private correspondence that they refuse to investigate.

The plagiarism allegations are serious. But as a runner, the part that blows my mind is that Arday claimed to have run 600 miles in 6 days. If true, that would make him an international elite athlete.

Yet UK athletics website Power of Ten doesn't register any times at all for Arday, not even a parkrun.

Cambridge could argue that it doesn't matter if one of their academics has a rich fantasy life. And that would be fair as long as he was appointed on his merits and not for his inspirational/implausible life story.
