@RyanG5672 In media and public opinion the possibility of false accusations is always omnipresent. And yet false accusations of sexual assault are extremely rare (2-4%). And hand 1/4 women* experiences sexual assault at least once in her life. Do the math!

In training their empathy kenyan boys' attitudes and behaviors towards girls and women significantly improved and 74% of boys who witnessed sexual assault successfully intervened to stop it.
Consistently with Jackson Katz’s approach this study underlines the importance of adressing/empowering not only females but also males to reduce sexual violence.

@gillingham_jane That is such a great development. Hopefully governments all over the world facilitate paternity leaves. That can really strengthen the father-child-bond and children are socialized in a more equal way, so hopefully that generation hast to unlearn less sexism #gndr1000
Emotional labor is adding to all the unpaid work women are doing in the domestic area because we are socialized in a way that women cover the emotional and men rational parts of thinking. #gndr1000
Alternative 10 steps for staying healthy shows that if we want to take feminism seriously we have to think about it in an anti-capitalistic way. #gndr1000
@lynelle_mercer The system still evaluates/devaluates individuals on a structural level. The tendency to simply explain symptoms psychologically similarly stigmatizes mental disorders as it is harmful for non-white/non-male bodies seeking medical help #gndr1000
The underrepresentation of women* in research creates a vicious circle in that unexplained symptoms are blamed on the females unconscious mind and not further studied. Believe women’s pain! #gndr1000

@CaitlinTerao When I was younger my mother never allowed my to play with Barbie dolls and 5-year-old me was really frustrated about that but now I'm really grateful for her trying to protect me from this idealized body image. Regarding KUS4 this is still only a drop in the ocean #gndr1000
Has anyone seen the documentary EMBRACE? If yes, what are your thoughts? Some critics say there is too much focus on appearance within the body positivity movement. Do we really have to love everything about our bodies? #gndr1000

@tiffanyvatcher This is so true and even from an international perspective Canadian History looks less brutal compared to other countries genocides…but it’s definitely worth digging deeper into history and so important to talk about those things! #gndr1000

After listening to Gaelynn Lea and Maysoon Zayid I was thinking about ableism in movies and how they shape our perspective. I.e. "Me before you" perpetuates the idea that living with a disability is a worthless and miserable life that’s neither realistic nor empowering #gdnr1000
@rohanrumj LGBTQ Activists achieved a lot but we should never stop fighting for equality and celebrating diversity. Social structure never changes in a linear direction like this brutal homophobic attack in London, UK showed two weeks ago (TW violenece) #gndr1000 https://t.co/UavRUWJWo2
@MahinaGl I completely agree with you @MahinaGl and it even goes beyond the field of medicine such as in many psychological studies i.e. on romantic relationships only include straight couples to create a "representative" sample. Stupid heterosexism #gndr1000
„For people with privileges equality feels like discrimination.“
(Romeo Bissuti, Psychologist and head of male health centre in Vienna, Austria) #gndr1000
@munashematowe regarding liberal feminism it seems to be beneficial for only a very small group of women to push their careers and is not about equality for everyone. There are so many different types and claims of feminism so it’s so important to never stop questioning & reflecting #gndr1000
@munashematowe I personally feel like it’s the other way around. My aunt who was a feminist activist in the 70s was so surprised how feminist perspectives have changed over time and as diverse they are are more intersectional and inclusive for so many human beings to fight their discrimination.
