@rohanrumj and more education for those who are ignorant to the amount of work needed to run a home and family. Perhaps changing the social stigmas would finally socially validate those who do these jobs.
@rohanrumj I didn't consider it work at the begining of this week. This moduel opened my eyes and my stance 100% changed. I didnt consider the work, I thought of the social stigma of laziness.Your right, more support is definitely needed for homemakers/stay at home parents.
I had to have a reality check with this weeks subject. I wanted to be a stay at home mom if the oppourtunity arises in the future but didn't want to appear "lazy". This week opened my eyes to the amount of work mothers do, I've definitiely changed my stance. #gndr1000
The article "How Doctors Take Women's Pain Less Seriously" is a manifestation of a lot of womens fears. We're afraid to raise the alarm bells in fear of being considered melodramatic. Thank goodness for Rachel's husband, it makes me question what happens to those alone #gndr1000
@holly_stuckey When i was going through hairschool (about 10 years ago now) my teacher came in with a magazine ad of a girl in a bikini. She asked what was wrong with it, it took us a super long time to notice theyd edited out her belly button.
Killing Us Softly puts media representation of women and their bodies into perception. It's no wonder that eating disorders, low self esteem and depression are rampant. Trying to obtain a computerized image is impossible in real life. #gndr1000
@CaitlinTerao It's something that is constantly around us that we ignore but subconsiously stays with us. I was shocked towards the end of the film, the sexualization of women to look like young girls and depiction of rape culture is digusting
@SophieB29341295 I had no idea we had a history of slavery. I guess sometimes history only highlights the good. I remeber learning about the underground railroad and i operated under the presumption people were always free here.
I think i looked at Canadian History with rose coloured glasses, I had no idea that slavery was commonplace here. I always operated under the perspective that Canada was a safe haven, boy i was wrong! #gndr1000
Education, compassion and understanding are what needs to happen to make the fear disappear. Intersex people should be treated with respect. Their bodies should not be mutilated for the sake of gender conformity, especially without their consent. #gndr1000
Thereβs a societal pressure for classification of people into binary groups. When people donβt fit neatly into groups, society tends to shun, shame and segregate, because it fears what it does not understand. #gndr1000
@CritchJessica That documentary tugs at the heart, the lack of consideration for the child is appaling. I'm happy as a society we're evolving to a level of understanding, compassion and acceptance for people who are not gender binary. We're not 100% there, but education is key!
