@dahlgren_linus@incarceratedbob That obviously doesn’t happen so you just answered your own question. You lose any trade with Barzal because of the unweighted trade value Barzal has that can’t be recorded. His value to the fan base, Long Island, and what he has built with the fan base cannot be measured.
@dahlgren_linus@incarceratedbob What’s the scenario for a deal here? Who are you bringing in that is overwhelmingly loved by the fans, dedicated years of service to a team that no one cared about and wouldn’t resign, who has pre existing chemistry with the players on the team. No one should be your answer.
@dahlgren_linus@incarceratedbob It doesn’t matter what the return is. Barzal has been the backbone of this franchise since he’s been drafted. He’s never wanted to leave, signed long term, has a great relationship with our corner stone dman, he is much more valuable to the Isles than people realize.
@stefen_rosner If Darche trades Barzal, he’s going to have to deal with an entire fanbase showing up to his office with pitchforks. It would be Garth Snow billboards 2.0. He’d be wise to be very calculated on what he’s trying to do here.
@philzfactz If Darche actually trades Barzal, the fanbase is going to show up to his office with pitchforks. It makes negative sense to trade a fan favourite and their best offensive player, especially one with the chemistry he has with Schaefer
@HappyCanadian55@ryanmaher_2 It’s not a matter if he’s a good player, he’s fine, but 6 more years for a guy on the back half of his career, eating 6 mil, going to a team in dire need of goals when he doesn’t score, doesn’t make any sense for the islanders in my opinion. The islanders have enough middle 6.
@philzfactz@islesfan777 If Lou did this the fan base would riot, I couldn’t agree more with you. This would be an awful trade for not only the forward group but the franchise moving forward because he’s going to be an anchor to that top 6 for the next 6 years
@mndamico@TheNLKing Why, and I mean this in the nicest way, would the islanders entertain taking on a guy who’s very clearly on the back half of his career for another 6 years at 6 million. If this is the splash Darche is referring to, I’m totally lost.
@philzfactz had a crazy thought yesterday. He’s not what he used to be, but what are your thoughts on Laine coming over? Isles get assets to take him on, don’t have to give up anything, helps the pp, could mesh with Horvat and Barzal. Obviously not plan A/B but not a bad option C
@stefen_rosner Seeing Quinn Finley scoring in the Spengler Cup, reminded me we don’t have him signed yet, think that gets done when his season is over?
