Three quarters of a million people appear to think otherwise, and have voiced their support within a month.

What is happening in Gaza right now is not abstract. It is mass slaughter, enabled and justified by Britain’s political establishment. Our government continues to arm Israel, continues to give diplomatic cover, and continues to silence those who resist. This complicity is undeniable and it must be confronted.

But in confronting it, we must recognise something fundamental: the Palestinian cause cannot afford a divided left. When the right is mobilising with unprecedented ferocity, when Britain’s state machine is criminalising protest and shielding genocide, to turn our anger inwards at one another is to hand our opposition exactly what they want.

Purity tests about who is a “true” anti-Zionist weaken us. The truth is, every act of solidarity; whether from the streets, from trade unions, or from MPs who are willing to break the silence in Parliament; matters. @zarahsultana has stood up in a hostile Parliament and named Britain’s role in Gaza. That makes her an ally, not an enemy.

Our movement will only grow stronger if we combine forces: if grassroots resistance links with voices inside Parliament; if trade unions raise the banner of non-cooperation; if campaigners and MPs stand shoulder to shoulder. No one faction will defeat the Right wingers alone, but together we can build the unstoppable force that is needed.

Now is not the time to fight over who wears the badge more authentically. It is the time to demand, in one voice: an end to British complicity, an end to arms sales, an end to silence. The people of Gaza do not need our division; they need our unity. The great people of our nation deserve a Government that serves their interests before any foreign.
