For patients with a less survivable cancer, the average five-year survival is just 16%. These cancers deserve & need the attention of a dedicated cancer plan. The new strategy needs a focus on less survivable cancers if any progress is to be made.

@Tony_Robinson Sorry to hear that, I hope you’re completely better now/soon. I went down with really nasty flu-like symptoms about 18 hours after my flu jab. Two weeks later I’ve almost stopped coughing myself to sleep each night. First time I’ve ever reacted to any jab.

November is lung cancer awareness month! I was diagnosed with stage 4 ALK+ lung cancer in 2021 at the age of 28. I didn't know that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer, so the diagnosis was a shock. 100,000 people around the world are diagnosed with ALK+ lung cancer every year

Fortunately for all of us, cancer research is moving at a fast pace. With more research funding we may be able to extend the lives of those with ALK-positive lung cancer, and someday find a cure.

@JonLake1 @SmallSchoolHead @jeremy_ashcroft @markleecarter The problem I have with this is that you seem to use only one criterion to determine someone’s degree’s “worth” is, ie, how much money they are likely to make. This perpetuates the myth that “if it can’t be measured, it doesn’t exist”.

But if the uni population is slashed as per your new world order, not only do humanities folks miss this opportunity, but the non-humanities folks miss out too.

@SmallSchoolHead @JonLake1 @jeremy_ashcroft @markleecarter It’s also about the overall experience of uni life: meeting people from outside your home bubble, learning alternative perspectives, etc. Arts+humanities enriches EVERYONE’s lives. Can you honestly say you can live a fulfilled life without any art form?

@JonLake1 @SmallSchoolHead @jeremy_ashcroft @markleecarter It does seem to hard for you to understand, though, that the Arts IS one of the largest revenue sources in the UK. It doesn’t solely consist of Channel 4, y’know?
