Breaking: The Government is not going to legislate to increase personal injury award levels, in a move that is seen as a major blow to the legal sector. It comes after a committee of judges had made a controversial proposal to hike injuries award guidelines by almost 17pc.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has informed the Dáil that the government does not intend to implement recommendations from judges to hike personal injury awards by almost 20 per cent.

@Johngodwyer1 So sad to see. We used to walk the Avenue there as children, Ponsonby family allowed access. On one occasion, one of the older ladies showed us around the walled garden. What a shame to see it in this condition.
@SusanSmythSL I think you’d observe the same Non Waving from a lot of Dubliners who can’t seem to fathom why we salute everyone we meet “down the country”.
Thank you @ESBNetworks

There has been a lot of talk about the NOAA Lockheed WP-3D Orion aircraft in Shannon this week.
The aircraft, N42RF aka “Kermit” is in Shannon for the next while as they monitor Storm Éowyn which hits Ireland on Friday morning!
Q: What do scientists onboard do?🤔
Scientists aboard the aircraft deploy GPS dropwindsondes as NOAA pilot and navigate the P-3 through the hurricane/storm. These instruments continuously transmit measurements of pressure, humidity, temperature, and wind direction and speed as they fall toward the sea, providing a detailed look at the structure of the storm and its intensity. The P-3s' tail Doppler radar and lower fuselage radar systems, meanwhile, scan the storm vertically and horizontally, giving scientists and forecasters a real-time look at the storm. The P-3s can also deploy probes called bathythermographs that measure the temperature of the sea.
This aircraft will likely fly into storm Éowyn to study it, I will share tracking details if/when it becomes available!

@Johngodwyer1 Very sad to see. My Mother picnicked in the surrounding fields there as a child. And when we were small, we’d walk the avenue as a family, guessing how many steps were left to reach the gate, to distract grumbling children from what seemed like a very long walk.
