For summer 2020, I designed a reading and writing summer camp for myself. I am excited to be joining Twitter and sharing my journey. Thanks to @mmyerscb97, Dr. Buckelew, @brenkrupp, and @EsMteach for leading meaningful summer pd and inspiring this idea. https://t.co/OwCI0IIUfw
Establishing, practicing, and reflecting on these conversation skills during virtual learning on Teams meetings and Canvas discussion boards will be an important part of my community building with Ss. Thanks @MattRKay!!
Great ideas here for building connections!! I’m adding MGCs to Don Graves’s three-column chart and Zac Chase’s Good News. So true: audio/video feedback and small-group Teams meetings worked wonders for my Ss last year.
Re-imagining collaboration spaces: table-groups, small-groups, & whole-group Teams meetings & Canvas discussion boards plus 1:1 student-teacher discussion boards. How will Ss listen to their writing pieces & process? How will Ss receive feedback from you & peers?

I came across this list I made a while ago, and I'm seeing it through new eyes as I'm busy preparing for remote learning. I think it will help me decide what assignments are truly valuable and which ones can be cut.
No matter what the local circumstances or our degree of agreement with them, one thing is certain: this school year will begin looking like no other. I started putting together a list of questions I hope parents and teens will talk about. What are some others?
Action research will invite me to ask the questions that need to be asked and work with my 8th and 9th grade students to tackle unknown and uncharted territory this school year. Getting ready for our blended writing-reading workshop adventure! @JanMEwing
Re-imagining and digitizing @pennykittle “Big Idea" Books with threaded @Canvas discussion boards. Excited to foster conversation and build community with these "Big Idea" Discussion Boards in my writing-reading workshop this year!
As we prepare for this unpredictable school year, I encourage educators to make time for a mindfulness practice & encourage students to do the same! Health & Wellness Choice Boards for Teachers & Students https://t.co/Al3p2QPLbS #edchat#blendedlearning#onlinelearning#wellness
Preparing for our webinar @AlyssaWalloff @c_mooradd @MsAnnaGabriel. How can teachers enhance and re-imagine best practices to plan smaller, create active learners, and foster human connections whether face to face, hybrid, or online? Thanks @KellyGToGo for the inspiration!
Learned about Hyperdocs from @jeremybballer during @chippewariverwp’s workshop. Can't wait for the recorded sessions! For more information on Hyperdocs, check this out. https://t.co/LYpgCgYHKz
Re-imagining Hyperdocs with Canvas pages was amazing today! Great way to foster active engagement during lessons and support mastery learning. Perfect for face to face, hybrid, or online learning. @AlyssaWalloff@mmyerscb97@HallmanCBSD@CanvasLMS Let's experiment together!
@theVogelman@AlyssaWalloff@mmyerscb97@HallmanCBSD@CanvasLMS Learned about Hyperdocs from @jeremybballer during @chippewariverwp’s workshop yesterday. Since CB uses Microsoft and Canvas, I experimented using Canvas pages. Created a table template. Need to add links within Canvas and to the Internet. Check this out! https://t.co/LYpgCgYHKz
Spent an inspiring day with @chippewariverwp! Wonderful to collaborate with like-minded peers. So many takeaways from the sessions I attended on passion blogs, Hyperdocs, multimodal nonfiction, and re-imagining conferences. Can’t wait to share the recordings with colleagues!
Connecting with colleagues and students this summer emphasized how important community is. Conferences and small-group work must continue and be re-imagined. Technical issues and concerns won’t stop me—I must find way.
