@meekaale I listen to the composer Mahler recently. I was like “these emotions are so grand that they feel foreign”. It wasn’t that the aesthetics were out of date, but the whole emotional texture was of a different age

@meekaale I think it’s hard to picture any sustained new effort and innovation in ethics without a large base of popular support. Religion does a good job at capturing ethical imagination en masse, but often in a dogmatic way or tied to supernatural belief.

@meekaale There has been renewed interest in virtue ethics in the past 20 years which has been productive and has a pragmatic use. Hardly a revolutionary though.
