Y'all. Tonight, thanks to @ProjectLITComm, I had the wonderful opportunity to talk to students who actually read GROWN & see the difference the story has made.
Though I've talked to plenty of adults, I haven't had a lot of opportunities to hear what kids thought of my book
These are a few reasons why:
๐โTrevor Noahโs story is so inspirational. He didnโt feel that he fit in, so he created his own space.โ
๐โI loved this book because Iโd the humor, descriptions, and the way he was candid about his life.โ

These are just a few reasons why:
๐โI loved the fact that the protagonist, Kiera, was a strong female who fought back throughout the story.โ
๐โThe character building is so good. By the end of the book I felt so connected to the characters.โ
The book is so well written that I felt that Quan and Justyce were people who Iโd met. I still wonder what Quan and Justyce are doing.โ Dear Justyce and Dear Martin are amazing books! Thank you @ProjectLITComm for introducing us!
โThe way that Nic Stone writes Dear Justyce had me hooked. I love the way she writes in both first person and 3rd person. This gives the reader so much information and makes the book so interesting to read."

๐โI selected Dear Justyce because of way that it was written. The characters are built so well, and the world building made this book hard to put down.โ

Why:
โI loved reading this book because it broke down the history of us in a fun way. I learned so much from reading this book.โ โ I loved the language in Stamped. Terms like โassimilationistโ were broken down so that the reader could fully conceptualize what the they mean.โ

Why:
โI really love how Jason Reynolds used poetry to help us get into Willโs mind.โ โThe metaphor of the elevators really stuck with me. It made me reflect on who Iโd want in my elevator.โ
โThe art in the graphic novel was so realistic. It really helped bring The prose to life.โ

Here is why:
โMarch helped me to better understand the history of SNCC and the situation-ins during the Civil Rights Movement.โ
โI got a better understanding of the role that young people played. SNCC and John Lewis really reminded me that young people can change world.โ
Why: "I loved reading American Street because of how real the characters are. This book really tells the story of what's happening to a lot of teenagers in America today." "American Street is a good book because it shows the struggle of deportation and how that impacts a family"
