RIP to former LSU Wide Receiver Devonta Lee
Terrible news, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
Lee went to Amite high school and was a top 10 player in the state and top 200 nationally.
He was a member of the 2019 National Championship team.
When a champion loses the belt, belief gets tested.
When the immediate rematch is lost or doesn’t end in a win, as it has in 11 of 14 cases since 2010, belief gets tested again.
The fight after is where belief is either rebuilt or finally broken.
This fight against Song Yadong wasn’t just another fight for O’Malley.
It was a psychological crossroads.
O’Malley had just 1 loss on his record.
Then lost the belt to Merab.
And lost the runback.
Tonight was about proving belief and confidence still holds.
Since 2010, former champs in immediate rematches are 3–10–1.
What matters most is what comes next.
Historically after losing the belt and rematch:
✅ 5 rebounded
❌ 3 lost again
⚠️ 1 NC
🛑 1 retired
Tonight, O’Malley pushed back and rebounded.
The belt is still gone.
The climb is still not done.
But most importantly that belief remains.
Na, God opened his eyes to what truly matters.
“For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.”

@GoLion09@TheStateofSLU You hear how great the offense is during camp and then they come out and lay an egg. And I don’t care if it’s FBS…Nicholls came out and skull drug UIW. John is more of an optimist than me and I can respect(and appreciate) it #LionUp
