@alexbsmith@lizaruth2a@Primary_Pianist Own planet? That's like saying evangs think they'll get a harp and wings. It's no what we believe.
Become a god? We believe we will become like God. Not a god. The Bible teaches this in Romans, psalms, and the Gospels.
Brothers? You mischaracterize this.
True jews? What even?
@Scholastincel@ThoughtfulSaint The beginning of the Book of Mormon, like, on the introduction page. The church also has this resource on biblical inerrancy and how we don't believe the Bible inerrant
https://t.co/8i4ojI8L13
While writing the D&C, Joseph regularly admits his faults in transcribing revelations
@Scholastincel@ThoughtfulSaint Yes. Latter day Saints explicitly view all scripture as being fallible. Which is why there is a need for ongoing revelation from God. Otherwise we'd be lost in apostasy, creating God in our image and worshipping our interpretations, instead of our God. Like protestant do.
@austinknight Help me understand
Where in the Bible does it confirm the exact books that, when combined, constitute "the Bible". I want to make sure I'm following the proper inerrant word. But sometimes bibles have 66 books and other times they have 73 or even 81. What's right? How do I know?
@Mormonger On my mission in the deep south, I had a companion from Idaho who put it on the transfer goal board to "be less racist". About 3 days later I noticed the board had changed an now it was "find racism as wrong/a bad thing"
About 2 days later that goal was removed.
@BasicBaptistGuy @KalenWilliams_ Well, obviously we don't know half as many details about James, Jude, or John, as we do about Joseph Smith. That's a recency bias. But as I mentioned before, Peter pulled money out of a fish's mouth. Prophets do things all the time in the Bible that are illegal or odd to us.
@BasicBaptistGuy @KalenWilliams_ A better example would have been Jude.
But even regardless of James or Jude, John the Baptist was a cousin of Jesus and John was a prophet and forerunner for Christ's ministry. The Lord's ministry began from the testimony of a family member.
@ByuSome@apexair435 So here's my theory. I think obviously it started as a joke or a myth. Then some people started doing it ironically.
There is a group of people that do it, but they're jack Mormons. They don't really believe. Same vibes as those who do a Vegas wedding for sex and then annul.
@IronRodWarrior Creedists generally seem to understand that the devil has the capability to mimic godly power/angels/relics. Yet they forget that mimickry requires a true original. Divining cups, clay, gold figures, lots, etc. God works with your understanding and faith. Today, he might text you
@RexAntipodum@Virgini23166650@oliverburdick Smith claimed he had multiple visions throughout life but the vision which is commonly referred to as the "first vision" was only ever claimed by Smith to be a vision of seeing God. The exact details shifted in various accounts he made of the first vision, but not that detail.
@enigmatic_notes As a fellow sweaty person who wears this kind of underwear,
This is because of the aluminum in what is probably your husband's antiperspirant deodorant.
You can ignore it, try to strip it with chemicals, or have your husband to a deodorant that is white clothing safe.
@jakemmccleary I genuinely thought it was overhyped, went and got some on a whim right before moving away, best fast food I've ever had. Burger was great, fries were heaven.
@ITalkOfChrist So what is a person who tithes on every dollar that hits their bank account (like a t2), but also tithes on tax refunds if any, and will tithe on retirement payments when they occur?
I ask because when I was younger my bishop said that's how he did it.
@NoblestCalling My most recent order of garments had 6/10 items missing. 2 of the missing items had their bags in the box but they were clearly ripped open by hand and left empty.
FedEx was just like "yeah we got it like that." even tho they handed it to me in an oppsie bag.
Lame.
@Spindrift76@mholt6@Ch_JesusChrist You should understand that the Book of Mormon didn't have any chapter summary headings nor did it have any punctuation in the original translated manuscript. For changes to the inspired text, it's almost always going back to match the original. Otherwise it's adding punctuation.
