Article 12 of the Irish Constitution states:

“Upon inauguration, the President swears an oath of office pledging to uphold the Constitution and serve the people of Ireland.”

As President it will be my exact intention to uphold the Constitution and serve the people of Ireland in a manner that past presidents in recent years have failed to do so.

I will execute my powers accordingly under articles 12 to 14 of the Irish Constitution to better this country and provide for its citizens in the same manner as presidents in the distant past.

It will be my responsibility to protect this country and its people.

Nothing or anyone will stand in my way of putting the people of Ireland first.
