WH Smith, M&S and Argos failed to pay minimum wage.
More than 200 firms face penalties of nearly £7m and must reimburse workers for breaches dating back over a decade. https://t.co/tHJ0kCSIXQ
#OTD in 1990: British Airways Flight 5390, a BAC 1-11, suffers an explosive decompression over Oxfordshire (England). Cockpit window blew out and Captain was partially sucked out of the aircraft. A FA was able to secure him while the F/O landed safely. All 87 aboard survive.
The level of shamelessness to run this headline and narrative, and then just slip in this line which completely undermines the whole thing, is just mind-boggling.

Germans have gone from being the most industrious people to the laziest: Hours per worker in Germany halved from 1900 to 2000. The downtrend has been remarkably stable: for at least 150yrs, w/exception of World War II, every generation has worked fewer hours than its predecessor.
NEW: housing shortages, affordability crises and NIMBYism are growing problems in many countries, but what’s especially striking is how much worse they all are in Anglophone countries 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇦🇺🇳🇿🇨🇦🇮🇪

The red Peugeot 208 was the top selling vehicle in Europe in 2022.
The black Ford F-150 behind it was the top selling car in the US in 2022.
Amazing to see the difference in size. Are Americans and Europeans really that much different in their vehicle needs? 1/2
It’s insulting to our collective future to honour people who destroyed high streets across the Black Country with car dominated temples to unsustainable consumerism and added millions of polluting car journeys through local neighbourhoods by naming a tram after them.
As a veteran of "Poland will overtake the UK" twitter my view is pretty simple,... well why wouldn't we expect that? Comparable city regions in Poland have far better physical infrastructure, access to well-educated workers, access to capital and markets to sell goods/services.
