I joined @ShaunAbreu at the Riverside Viaduct, a crucial infrastructure project that has been stalled for over four years.

The contractor walked off the job, leaving some residents trapped and without easy access to emergency vehicles.

Washington Heights deserves better. The project must be completed.

This morning, I joined @BrianLehrer to reflect on some of the work we've advanced during my first six months as Manhattan Borough President: securing $50 million in support for Manhattan's arts and cultural institutions, releasing comprehensive reports on dog waste and horse carriages, helping move forward more than 1,400 new units of housing, and pushing for greater transparency around the federal overhaul of Penn Station.

I’m deeply saddened to learn of the first reported death associated with the ongoing Legionnaires’ disease outbreak on the Upper East Side.

My heart goes out to the victim’s loved ones. The loss of any New Yorker to this preventable disease is a tragedy, and it underscores the urgency of containing this outbreak as quickly as possible.

This month, Manhattan’s median market rent hit an all-time high of $5,295, a shocking 8.2% increase from just last year.

We desperately need projects like 324 East 5th Street, which will convert an underutilized NYPD parking lot into 131 units of 100% affordable housing.

Here’s the latest on 235 E 42nd St., the former Pfizer building and current construction site that was feared to be at risk of collapse earlier this week:

I support a full and thorough investigation into the structural failure at 235 East 42nd Street.

What happened was deeply alarming and put New Yorkers at risk. We need to know exactly what went wrong and ensure it never happens again.

Office-to-residential conversions are essential to tackling our housing crisis. We must get them right — and New Yorkers must have confidence in the safety of their homes, workplaces and neighborhoods.

Latest update on the ongoing, multi-agency response in Midtown ⬇️

My office is in close contact with @nycemergencymgt and @NYC_Buildings as they continue to respond to the extremely serious situation at 235 East 42nd Street.

DOB reports there is no threat of a collapse and have approved emergency shoring of the 20th and 21st floors of the impacted building.

Shoring operations will continue throughout the night and into the early morning.

The following roadway closures remain in place:
Vehicle traffic is restricted from East 41st Street to East 45th Street from 1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue.
Pedestrian traffic is restricted from East 42nd Street to East 43rd Street from 1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue.

American Red Cross operations have concluded since all evacuated residents from 222 East 44th Street were allowed to reoccupy and there were no residents in 235 East 43rd Street.

Please continue to follow all instructions from first responders, and expect significant delays throughout Midtown.

I applaud @NYCMayor, @SpeakerMenin, and the City Council for reaching an agreement on the FY27 City Budget.

A record $210 million for immigrant legal services is a game-changing investment that will help keep families together and ensure New Yorkers have access to justice.

I'm also proud to see expanded Fair Fares, a new Cultural Stability Fund, baselined parks funding, restored Crisis Respite Centers, more funding for mobile treatment teams, 100% affordable housing above libraries, increased libraries funding, funding to fight senior food insecurity, and so much more.

This is a budget that makes New York more affordable, more equitable, and more resilient.
