@bit_reactor the way combat works today kills playstyles, no wonder endgame is mostly glamouring. people need to feel smart, someone might think "what if I do this rotation" and, at least sometimes, the game should reward you for trying something new
@bit_reactor I really think FF14 has great raids too, I like the positioning puzzle aspect of it, that's why I said they could keep these kinds of content untouched, but I can't see them pulling 10 more years without improving their combat system outside of the raids
@bit_reactor also I don't think any of this should be implemented in savage/ultimate content, because these are high end puzzles and for those, they should totally just create a debuff that strips all specialization of the class, leaving the multi variables aspect for content prepared for it
@bit_reactor I understand that inventing new variables instead of relying only in dps won't prevent a meta, but that will make it less obvious to figure out, and imo will protect the people that want to have any agency and crrativity in their combat
@zenossu@CredneNervii@RiGoRmOrTiS_UK and even crafting is optional, so the only time I need to count on a player is to do more advanced group content, where socializing is optimized away anyway. I wish CBU3 could try and do something about these design choices at least.
@zenossu@CredneNervii@RiGoRmOrTiS_UK don't let people gaslight you into thinking you're the problem! I hear you and think the exact same. discord has clearly won over a relevant part of xiv player base, that and the current game design really isolates us with streamlining. no player dependendencies except crafting +
