@tobitac There is definitely repression, but a honest and balanced analysis should not ignore the important context - rise of radical Islamists in Xinjiang and the waves of deadly terrorist attacks. Of course we never hear that in the west.
@Brad_Setser@dunne_insights Let’s require Chinese companies to build factories, and especially supply chains here. The problem now is our politicians don’t want anything to do with China, whether their investments help the US or not.
@dunne_insights@Brad_Setser Nowadays China invites competition from top players (like Tesla and Apple) to lit a fire under Chinese manufacturers’ ass and up their game. I don’t know if US and EU should follow Chinese playbook from 30 years ago, or follow Chinese policy now - invite competition.
