Today, we commemorate the #Kristallnacht in 1938.

The ‘Night of Broken Glass’ was a murderous example of the capacity of humans to escalate from indifference, demonization & singling out of a group of people - Jews, in this case - to violence, while too many bystanders looked the other way.

Today, instead of Jews, it is the Jewish state, Israel, that is being singled out and this violence manifesting in the most heinous of ways in the Hamas massacre of Oct 7 and the Amsterdam Pogrom this week.

The difference of course between 1938 and 2024 is that we have a Jewish state, the ability to defend ourselves and a home to serve as a refuge for Jews worldwide. It’s that simple!
