congrads @LauraGrimaNeuro and all the whole team for this review on Foraging as an ethological framework for neuroscience , timely and important topic . Check it out : https://t.co/C8HIUL9KSB
I had the pleasure of writing a profile of a scientist I greatly admired and whose work continues to inspire me: Dale Purves (https://t.co/dJOTLmxjaM):

Enough birdsong tweets, let's talk marmosets 🙊
Now in @NatureComms by @ThiagoTVarella (@LifeofBehavior lab), "Active sampling as an information seeking strategy in primate vocal interactions"

Are contact calls somehow like electric fish pulses?

@ThiagoTVarella has put together another outstanding study! This time showing that marmoset monkey vocal exchanges are more like "questions & answers" than reflexive "calls & responses".

Babies are communicating as soon as they are born, and these abilities are developing in the nine months before birth.
My detailed account of how this happens...

I'm still mildly annoyed that it was desk-rejected by at least 4 journals (and, of course, with no meaningful explanation) but happy that it got constructive, thoughtful and rapid reviews at https://t.co/G6EizVGFX3
@behaviOrganisms & I worked on this piece, off and on, for 5 years! Glad that it's finally out into the world. It's about the importance of the individual organism in the development and evolution of brains. It's about Time.

@parmita Love this. Nice to see it all laid out. I feel like neuroscientists have always had a hunch that this is the case (e.g., recovery from brain lesions). But it's easier just choose to ignore it. How can they find THE circuit solution for behavior X if there are many?
@Neuro_Skeptic Karl Lashley - asked and tried to answer big questions in neuroscience. Checkout "In search of the engram" and "The problem of serial order in behavior".

Read this awhile back. I think it's an awesome book. This is my attempt at a distillation.
@OdedRechavi Just coming off my year-long sabbatical. This is pretty damn close to capturing it. Replace skateboard with electric guitar. And dark blue for red.
Hey yall - my lab is hiring !
We're looking for a research tech to work on the neurobiology of multitasking in Drosophila !

@renatrigiorese I've lost two dogs in my life. Vowing after each death, not to get another way because it's too painful. But yet again, I find myself with another. I cannot resist the unique and amazing companionship they provide.
@VenkRamaswamy I came across two studies that were poorly designed. There was no way to fix them. Authors are not inclined to shelve studies that are not any good (often they just keep sending to different journals). I don't want to be the target of their ire.
My 3-year experiment in signing all my manuscript reviews is over. I finally came across some studies where revealing my identity hampered expressing my critique. That is, I doubted that the authors would take well what I had to say.
