Please help me honor US Army Ranger Sergeant Roberto Daniel Sanchez. He was killed in action in Afghanistan on October 1, 2009, during a combat operation that killed 9 enemy combatants and destroyed a large weapons cache. He was 24 years old.

Sanchez was on his fifth deployment in support of the Global War on Terror with three previous deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan.

Jon Dalton is a retired Navy SEAL whose 23-year career placed him among the most accomplished operators of the Global War on Terror. His journey began in 1995 when he entered BUD/S, where only eight of the original 220 candidates in his class earned the right to wear the Trident—a testament to the extraordinary standards required to join the SEAL Teams.

Dalton began his operational career with SEAL Team 4 conducting counterdrug missions throughout South America. Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, he was selected for a Joint Special Operations Command Special Mission Unit, serving at the Tier 1 level alongside the nation's most elite special operations forces.

Over the next two decades, Dalton deployed to combat more than eleven times, leading teams of over 250 personnel during the relentless direct-action campaigns across Iraq and Afghanistan. Operating at the heart of the capture-or-kill missions that defined JSOC during the Global War on Terror, he synchronized intelligence, aviation, and assault forces to execute some of the military's most demanding no-fail operations.

His service earned numerous decorations, including four Bronze Star Medals with Valor, multiple Joint Service and Navy Commendation Medals with Valor, two Presidential Unit Citations, and Combat Action Ribbons. He concluded his military career as Director of the Joint Terminal Attack Controller School in Fallon, Nevada, while also earning his MBA.

Retirement did not mark the end of his service. Dalton transitioned into the private sector, working in private equity focused on national security, leading startup companies, and helping veterans continue their mission after leaving the military. He serves as a founding board member of the SEAL Legacy Foundation and as president of the Call of Duty Endowment, an organization that has helped place tens of thousands of veterans into meaningful careers.

Away from work, Dalton enjoys spending time with his son in the Sierra Nevada, climbing, mountain biking, and skiing. He remains the embodiment of the quiet professional—a man who spent more than two decades at the tip of the spear and now dedicates himself to ensuring the next generation of veterans finds purpose after service.
