🚨Fears grow over attempts to erase Hindu heritage in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is witnessing a growing controversy over what critics describe as an escalating campaign against the country’s Hindu heritage, with concerns mounting over reported efforts to rename historically significant locations and increasing pressure on prominent Hindu religious institutions.
The latest controversy centers on Shibganj Upazila in Bogra district, whose name has long been associated with Lord Shiva, one of Hinduism’s principal deities. According to local reports, authorities have moved to rename the upazila as “Mahasthan Upazila” following demands from Islamist groups who objected to the inclusion of a Hindu religious reference in the area’s name. The development has triggered concern among minority rights advocates and cultural observers, who fear it may signal the beginning of a broader attempt to erase historical and religious identities deeply embedded in Bangladesh’s social fabric.
Critics argue that the proposed renaming of Shibganj is not an isolated incident. Reports circulating among minority communities suggest that several other locations bearing names associated with Hindu culture and traditions—including Laxmipur, Shambhuganj, Narayanganj, Brahmanbaria, Joypurhat, Thakurgaon, and Gopalganj—could eventually face similar pressures.
While no official nationwide policy has been announced, the speculation alone has generated anxiety among many members of Bangladesh’s Hindu community, who view such names as part of the country’s shared historical and cultural heritage.
At the same time, another controversy has emerged in Gaibandha district, where construction activities at a major Hindu religious complex have been halted amid mounting pressure from Islamist groups. The sprawling complex in Ramchandrapur village has become one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimage and cultural sites in Bangladesh. Established through the efforts of local philanthropist Haridas Babu, the project has attracted thousands of devotees and visitors from across the country.
One of the site’s most notable features is a towering fifty-foot statue of Lord Krishna, inaugurated in November 2025. The long-term vision for the complex includes the construction of 144 separate idols representing various Hindu deities, along with religious structures and cultural installations intended to celebrate Bangladesh’s diverse spiritual heritage.
However, the project has increasingly become the target of online campaigns and political controversy. Various activists and commentators have circulated allegations portraying the complex as an instrument of foreign influence. Supporters of the project strongly reject such accusations, describing them as baseless attempts to delegitimize a peaceful religious and cultural initiative.
More troubling, observers say, is the growing use of social media platforms to spread inflammatory rhetoric directed at Bangladesh’s Hindu minority. Rights advocates warn that some extremist voices have moved beyond political criticism and are openly promoting communal hostility, including calls targeting Hindu institutions and communities.
Bangladesh’s history contains painful examples of how online disinformation and religious incitement can fuel real-world violence. For that reason, minority rights activists, civil society organizations, and defenders of religious freedom are urging authorities to act decisively against hate speech and extremist propaganda while ensuring equal protection for all citizens regardless of faith.
As debates over place names, religious identity, and cultural heritage intensify, many Bangladeshis are asking a fundamental question: Can a nation founded on pluralism and coexistence preserve its diverse historical legacy, or will growing sectarian pressures reshape the country’s cultural landscape for generations to come?

Some so-called trade analysts and pages are spreading completely fake Hindi box office numbers of #Peddi.
Some are claiming the film has crossed ₹30 crore NETT, while others are even pushing ₹40 crore NETT figures.
The reality is very different. The Hindi version is yet to cross the ₹20 crore NETT mark, making these numbers highly exaggerated and misleading.
Don’t fall for such engagement-driven posts. Box office reporting should be based on credible data, not fan wars, agendas, or made-up figures just to gain impressions and interactions.
A humble request to every fan: always verify the source before believing any box office claim. 🙏

🚨Hindu students of Begum Rokeya University staged a silent protest against the ban on construction of Shri Ram Chandra’s idol and the shameful act of throwing shoes at Lord Ram’s picture.
We strongly urge all Hindus to unite against the anti-Hindu Jamaat-BNP alliance.
