Because of the recently introduced US visa restrictions, we had to pay USD 30K as visa bonds for two Ugandan researchers to attend a conference. Think about this for a moment ⁉️‼️
It's not just abductions - people are turning up dead. Oversight mechanisms are silent and dissent is being treated as a form of terrorism by a weak administration.
Male violence is truly truly terrifying and devastating. No one should ever live in fear or suffer such unimaginable cruelty.
We must all do more to dismantle the systems that allow such violence to persist. Our lives depend on it!
Rest in Peace, Rebecca Cheptegei.
It is in the interests of power for you to believe that narrative that rural Kenyans don't have any issues with the government and these are all urban protests. But remember that 35 out of 47 counties in Kenya registered anti-finance bill protests without any central coordination
What autocrats don't seem to realise is that the same constitutionalism that makes it possible for citizens to live and breathe is what makes a country a place people want to invest in. You don't get to pick and choose which bits of rule of law you keep for different audiences.
Ruto has not proved his dissolution of cabinet by an official gazette notice, NHIF not re-instated, housing levy still haunting us, Kenyans still being abducted & killed and the political class is still infantilizing gen-z protestors & using infiltrators to try break the protests
Yoeal is still being held at Capital Hill police station without a charge. It’s been two days already and they’ve denied him cash bail. We’re worried about him and need all the help we can get!

We spoke with @njokigachanja from Githurai Social Justice Centre (@GithuraiC). She confirmed that, while there was significant police violence and multiple gunshots heard throughout the night, contrary to the circulating reports, there was no massacre in Githurai. Tragically, one person died in the scuffle.
