The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), through its Organising Secretary, Thiru R.S. Bharathi, has filed Petition before the Hon'ble Supreme Court seeking action against the irresponsible, misleading, malicious, and disrespectful speech made by Minister Adhav Arjuna in relation to Karur stampede, which seek to create a false narrative against the DMK, its President Thiru M.K. Stalin, and the Tamil Nadu Police, while simultaneously attempting to influence public opinion and interfere with an investigation being conducted pursuant to the orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

The DMK has approached the Hon'ble Supreme Court seeking, inter alia, the following relief:

“Direct that, pending completion of the investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation pursuant to the orders of this Hon’ble Court, no person, including any accused or person connected with the investigation, shall make public statements attributing criminal liability, threatening political opponents, or otherwise commenting upon the merits of the pending investigation in a manner likely to prejudice or interfere with the fair and independent investigation directed by this Hon’ble Court;

Direct the State of Tamil Nadu, its Chief Minister, Ministers, officers, agents and all persons acting on its behalf, that no monetary assistance, compassionate appointment, Government Order, ex gratia payment, benefit, largesse or any other form of State benefit shall be conferred upon the families of the deceased or injured victims, or upon any material witness connected with Crime No.855 of 2025, during the pendency of the CBI investigation ;

Direct the Central Bureau of Investigation to examine the impact, of the public statements made by Thiru Aadhav Arjuna on 02.07.2026, as well as the distribution of monetary benefits and any subsequent conferment of Government benefits upon material witnesses, on the fairness of the ongoing investigation, and to place an appropriate report before this Hon’ble Court and take appropriate action;

Pass such further or other order(s) as this Hon’ble Court may deem fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the present case, in the interests of justice, to preserve the fairness, independence and integrity of the investigation.”
