Last week, we welcomed a group of women in commerce to our Shopify office for connection and community.
Recently back on the Partner Community team, and already getting those 2019 meetup feels! 💚
The Women Unified in Commerce crew was in Ottawa last week 🎉 i can't believe how many people traveled from GTA & QC 🍁. Shootout to @lil_poutine & @atleeclark for your help and great talk by Atlee 🙌
I’ve always appreciated how open and collaborative the Shopify Partner community is.
But a few recent conversations have made me wonder whether the uncertainty around SaaS and agency work is changing that. Not in a total doomsday way, but a subtle vibe shift.
I get the anxiety: margins under pressure, and customers asking harder questions about where value is actually being created.
I worry that this uncertainty is making some of us more protective of what’s working—and the ecosystem a little less open as a result.
Less sharing of what works and what doesn’t. Less tide-raising and more moat-building.
It's possible I'm over-reading a small sample.
Are you feeling this in your own conversations with partners? What am I missing?
Counterexamples especially welcome.
DotDev was 🔥 today! We know there were some sessions that people wanted but couldn’t get into so we decided to do them again. Get the updates: https://t.co/ibtQ16zPRe

So excited to get this into the hands of Partners soon! A big first step in our path to burn down the toil of building on Shopify
We're moving our Partners towards using first-class features our merchants know & love, ensuring everyone benefits when we ship improvements.
App Devs: we owe you an update. App approval times have slowed down in the past few months as we've seen a huge increase in submissions.
We are committed to making sure the apps in our App Store are high quality, secure, and impactful tools for our merchants, and that means we don't take approvals lightly.
We're actively working to bring review times down through product investment and ops ramp up. We will keep you updated as this improves.
Thank you for all the feedback and patience 🙏
