@hoffridder@NyxXeres I don’t think that’s true, but even if it is, the ecosystem has been written across decades by many different parties that do not necessarily share a design philosophy or ensure intuitive integration that people looking to migrate are looking for.
@AmadeusK525@NyxXeres@hoffridder Popularize the…. kernel? What you are saying doesn’t even make sense. Is ChromeOS a “distro” that’s “popularizing Linux”? Is android? I doubt there is even one major contributor to the kernel who would consider video gamer palatability a metric of success
@NyxXeres@hoffridder Linux kernel developers are not going to be largely concerned with things like “giving the base users an easy way to do their daily tasks”, as they shouldn’t be
@NyxXeres@hoffridder Windows is a product that includes a desktop environment and a host of pre-installed software defined in terms of a kernel and systems level APIs. Linux is just a kernel and there is no single software stack that represents “the Linux desktop”.
@hoffridder@NyxXeres I think the current problem is demonstrated by that poster. Linux is a kernel and what would it even mean for it to have UI/UX problems? I don’t think normies realize they’ve probably never even seen a Linux error message or log or whatever
@hoffridder array languages are always fascinating to me even though I haven't had enough of a practical use for them to justify taking the time to study one

Great repository names are short and memorable. Need inspiration? How about absurdly-long-name-in-a-verbose-style-that-no-one-ever-uses-and-definitely-has-no-relation-to-the-project-you-are-making-a-repository-for?
@theunlicense@bendiken has https://t.co/PyEPKAXxiQ been down lately intentionally or is there a problem? (or is it just me?) If the project has been abandoned it would be nice for that to be stated explicitly
@Idonbelonghere@__phantomderp makes sense to me if you think about it as a "pointer to an unknown type". adding one being the immediate next address is all that can be done without type information. allows (void *) to have standardized meaning as "generic address pointer"
@inside_gadgets@visionsjpg What about the GBA rumble + gyro? Have been interested in using it for development but I assume the supply chain issues persist
I've been searching for resources on old (most Unix) plain text format conventions that don't use any markup but it's been surprisingly fruitless. This file doesn't seem to be related to Window's INI-based setup format so was just wondering if there's a spec for this format.
@ken_lunde Hello I stumbled on your old document CJK.INF and was curious if you were following any well-defined conventions for plain text documentation formatting? For ToC/headers/---begin and end---/etc
