technology acts as another layer on the reality "stack" that shapes the way we live our lives.
it shapes the way we think just as much as language creates abstract concepts that further creates more abstract forms of thought.
a shift in technology is a shift in reality
the internet is the ultimate tower of babel.
the internet doesnt create one harmonious human race, the internet fractures. The internet increases the amount of conflict we are exposed to, increases the amount of things we dont agree with.
We’re just gonna keep acting like this system makes any sense. Democracy doesn’t exist here and I’m ready for someone to conquer the U.S at this point lol.
In a 6-3 decision, all six conservative Supreme Court justices vote to reject the use of race as a factor in college admissions, stating a violation of the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause.
@RMelaninated @DellardHastings@YeahThatsRocc@moneyymaya Nobody said they’re obligated to service anyone but they can deny clients without making public discriminatory and stereotypical claims about groups. That’s also allowed because of freedom of speech but it’s also always going to be stupid.
@oonyinyechukwuu@_ibfresh@idonetoldubAby6@YeahThatsRocc I’m glad I was able to get a black woman therapist that didn’t have a personal bias against male clients but the notion that others would deny clients before knowing them is weird to me. Even so, I think vocalizing that bias is even more problematic cause it leads to stereotypes
@avrilstweets Not harassing anyone. Of course they have a right to be sexist and not accept male clients based on negative stereotypes. But people also have the right to say that’s trash and dumb.
@avrilstweets I personally shared and distributed lists from resources I found online but most people still are smart enough to be upset at clear discrimination.
@DellardHastings@YeahThatsRocc@moneyymaya Seriously!! If she said “I don’t want to take cheating clients” based on this story, that’s way different than saying “I don’t take male clients” or “I don’t take black clients.” One is a moral standard or boundary and the others are discriminatory by race and gender.
@kelrey84@idonetoldubAby6@YeahThatsRocc So if you saw multiple accounts from therapists online whose boundaries were violated by black people, you’d think that information is sufficient justification for a professional to openly say they don’t take on black clients for those reasons? That would be acceptable to you?
@mainebelawless @SpicyBlackWater @idonetoldubAby6@Blueberry_cowie@YeahThatsRocc Nobody said it’s a small handful However, it’s still wrong +kinda stupid to attack an entire group. Imagine someone said they wouldn’t take black clients based on negative experiences with them. It wouldn’t be ethical even if similar experiences were shared by other professionals
@YeahThatsRocc This lady isn’t the same as the other lady… this woman didn’t discriminate against all men… she is speaking on how she had to terminate one client relationship because he was doing to much.
@oonyinyechukwuu@_ibfresh@idonetoldubAby6@YeahThatsRocc That’s a privileged POV that kind of undermines the legitimacy of the spirit of the push for BM to go therapy. You can’t demonize BM for not going to therapy and then also clearly acknowledge an issue in availability while acting like that availability issue is acceptable or okay
@Blueberry_cowie@idonetoldubAby6@kwenchix@YeahThatsRocc If you have a discriminatory view against a group that causes you to actively avoid/advocate for avoiding servicing people from that group, you aren’t practicing your discipline with proper ethics.
