Offshore Drilling Notes

(1) Odfjell's NCS semisub Deepsea Nordkapp extended thru 2028 by Aker BP 🇳🇴 Dayrate tbd by two independent brokers by year end. As a top Tier 1 rig, dayrate *est* to be high $400k's. RIG's Norge a good comp and printed $497k in June

(2) Odfjell's Deepsea Atlantic is returning to the UK's West of Shetland region, per public AIS data -- H/T @LarsHogfeldt

The semisub dropped its BOP to the seafloor in April but has since recovered it and now appears to be returning to operations. The financial impact is not yet known but returning to work in July is a Positive outcome given the uncertainties after the incident, as it keeps downtime to a modest level.

(3) Eni took FID on its Kutei Basin rich gas projects in Indonesia in March 2026. Eni has sought two deepwater rigs on multiyear term for the project to begin as soon as 2027.

Seadrill's 7G drillship West Carina is leaving Brazil after recently completing multiyear work for Petrobras. Carina is a strong and likely candidate for one of Eni's two slots commencing early 2027.

7G drillship Deep Value Driller looked set to win the second slot in Eni's tender in early 2026 as it was already on location in Indonesia and Saipem held a $300mm purchase option most expected them to exercise. (Saipem is ~21% owned by Eni and the two often work together). Instead, Saipem bid just $275mm; Eldorado Drilling stepped in at $300mm and took the rig.

With Eldorado now bidding Deep Value Driller into other global tenders, a sign of tightening deepwater utilization, Eni has limited options for its second rig if it seeks early 2027 commencement.

One rig to watch in Saipem's fleet is 6G Saipem 12000 which *could* theoretically fill the Kutei Basin second rig slot after it completes drilling for Eni's Coral North FLNG project in Mozambique around mid-2027, though that timing is uncertain and delayed from early 2027.
