@WIREDGAMING11@PolitlcsUK I am a pro-tech person. I like to give my kids access to as much as I can, and I encourage them to learn and use it. I grew up on dial-up, PC's and old internet and it was an amazing time. I don't believe social media, or things like short form content is any good for kids though
@WIREDGAMING11@PolitlcsUK I would like to add, I believe digital ID is inevitable, and has been for decades. There are risks associated with it, but the discussion should be about management of digital ID rather than its existence - best to deal with these things head on.
@WIREDGAMING11@PolitlcsUK Parents should definitely be watching what their kids do online, 100% agree. But I disagree with what you have described as a logical conclusion. They can do both of those things now, and have been able to since long before social media. Social media is easier.
@WIREDGAMING11@PolitlcsUK It's a law stating it's illegal for U18s to do this. However, social media platforms enable children to do it. This is directed at social media platforms to do more to prevent it, or a law will be created directed at them.
@adamJ13924@CandideOpinions@PolitlcsUK@DailyMirror The risk of that is almost nonexistent for the vast majority of the armed forces. For the others, they apparently would rather risk getting their heads blown off than tell their family they stack shelves. Money is better too.
@adamJ13924@PolitlcsUK@DailyMirror You walk out of training on £25k minimum 🤣 nobody in their right mind would want to stack shelves, especially on £10k less
@normanelliottuk@DanNeidle@CreativeDeduct I would say the presence of a large number of taxes does not mean another specific tax isn't needed. This is just the reality of a tax system that has been neglected for decades.
@DanNeidle State Pension should be renamed to something like 'Retiree Benefits' or 'Senior Support' so people are aware it's not the ideal source of income during retirement but benefits to support those in need when they reach a certain age.
@DanNeidle I would argue that some individual taxes are overly simplified, whilst many can be rationalised. Food/drink taxes are very outdated and not fit for the modern world. NI, income and council tax really should be reviewed for complete overhaul.
